It is time to make the signature Web 2.0 shiny look.
Next just duplicate your main layer and remove all blend settings except add a color overlay of white:

Move that layer above all the others:

Now I am going to cut off the part I don’t want to make the shiny effect. For this I am going to use the pin tool:

With your pin tool chosen click at this spot on your screen and hold down shift
and drag your mouse down until you have this:

Then click here as your next position without dragging your mouse at all:

Next click here and pull down with your mouse until you have this. The line will
actually go pretty far off your canvas:

Then just click around the shape so to connect the pen mark:

Connect the pen and it will make a shape. Right click on the line you just made, still using the pen tool and hit make selection:

Once you do that just hit delete on your keyboard and it should leave something like this:

Your tutorial is good, but there is an easier way to get rid of the excess blue after you brush it onto the rounded rectangle. If the blue is on a new layer, then you can simple ctrl/command-click on the thumbnail of the layer underneath it. This will select the layer’s contents (which in this case is the rounded rectangle), so you could just invert the selection and press delete. It will not select the layer effects (like stroke), only the contents of the layer.

You have to connect the line by clicking where I have the mouse in the screenshot.. after that you should have a solid line. Then you need to right click (with a windows computer) and the little menu should pop up like in the other screenshot…
